A Few Reminders....
Do you have any fears?
Perhaps some that hold you back from being who you really are?
Or doing what you really want to do?
Worried about what your family/boss/lover/friend/co-worker/neighbor thinks?
Well, I forget sometimes that no matter how hard I try,
no matter how nice I am, no matter how good my intentions are...
there will be haters.
I don't let miserable people like that bother me.
You CAN choose who you spend time with...
and yes that DOES include your work, your family, your friends, or your lover.
You CAN change your career. (Average person changes their career 5 times.)
You CAN limit your time with unsupportive family members. ("Thanks, but I'm really busy.")
You CAN make new friends that excite and inspire you. ("Wow. Wasn't that a great speech/movie/book/race/dance/cup of coffee? My name's ______. What's yours?")
You CAN choose the type of relationship you want to be in. ("Sorry this isn't working for me." or "Wow, I'm so glad you're in my life! Let's tango.")
And there will always be people that criticize your choices.
Sometimes, they may be intimidated or jealous of your success.
They may try to sabotage your efforts so they don't feel guilty about their own inertia. So, you must guard your happiness, your attitude and your goals just as ferociously as you would guard any of your most prized possessions.
You must take the time to evaluate your environment and make sure it is supportive of who you really are and what you really love to do. Your life requires constant conditioning if you want it to stay on track. Just like you can't go to the gym once and expect a great body forever. You have to work it, fuel it, and remind yourself of your goals!
So, here's a few reminders that i like to paste on my wall...
"To be yourself in a world that is constantly trying to make you something else is the greatest accomplishment." - Ralph Waldo Emerson
"I don't know the key to success, but the key to failure is trying to please everybody." - Bill Cosby
